Chicken Shawarma Pita Cones and Tomato Salad
Chicken shawarma is one of the tastiest street food items ever. So, why not try to make it at home! We created our own chicken shawarma recipe, and to compliment it, we made a tomato salad. Instead of using regular pitas, we baked them into cones for an easy eat.
Ingredients:
- Chicken breasts
- Salt
- Pepper
- Olive oil
- Cumin
- Chili powder
- Paprika
- Fresh garlic cloves
- Fresh lemon juice
- Red cayenne pepper
- Ground cardamom
- Tortillas
- Cherry tomatoes
- Cilantro
Instructions:
- First step is to make the tortilla pita cones
- Cut your pitas in half, and then roll each half until it makes a cone
- Secure the cone with a toothpick, and place face down on your baking tray
- Drizzle the pita cones in olive oil to prevent burning, and bake in the oven at 350 Degrees Fahrenheit for about 20 minutes, until browned
- Next, marinate your chicken in a large mixing bowl with your spices (paprika, cardamom, salt, pepper, red cayenne pepper, cumin, chili powder)
- Drizzle your chicken in olive oil and fresh lemon juice
- Dice fresh garlic cloves, and drop into the mixing bowl and mix your chicken with the marinade
- Next, make your tomato salad
- Slice cherry tomatoes and cilantro, mix in a mixing bowl with olive oil, salt, and pepper
- Cook your chicken now, in a hot pan with olive oil
- Once your chicken is almost done cooking, start cutting into small strips
- To plate, grab your pita cone and place your chicken shawarma in the cone, top with your tomato salad and the hummus we made in a previous recipe
- Enjoy!
