Gnocchi Pasta Dish with Mushrooms

Pasta is a quick dish to prepare that is sure to fill your stomach. Gnocchi is a type of pasta that is dense and full of flavour. A combination of potato, flour, and cheese makes the perfect gnocchi. The casual way is to boil the gnocchi, but in this recipe, we are going to also pan fry the flavoursome pasta before serving.

Ingredients:
  • Fresh gnocchi (can be bought from your local supermarket or you can make this from scratch at home)
  • Mushrooms (any type works)
  • Fresh parsley
  • Butter
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Diced onions
  • Olive oil
Instructions:
  1. Bring cold water to a rolling boil (important to drizzle some olive oil and salt in the boiling water before placing the gnocchi in the pot)
  2. Gently place the gnocchi in the boiling water
  3. Cook the gnocchi until they all rise to the top of the water (indicating they are cooked)
  4. Get a flat pan, heat and get ready for the cooked gnocchi
  5. Once the gnocchi is cooked, place the gnocchi into the hot pan to pan fry
  6. Ensure each side is slightly browned
  7. Include diced onions, mushrooms, and a few knobs of butter in the pan
  8. After about a few minutes of pan frying, add fresh parsley and mix
  9. Enjoy!
This pasta dish eliminates the step of making sauce, as the butter mixed with the onions and mushrooms create its own flavour. You can top your pan fried gnocchi with fresh parmesan cheese if you wish!
